South African Website Designer - Website Design - Website Marketing - Website Statistics

pic1My name is Wayne McConnell and this is my website. I am a South African Website Designer, based in Queensburgh, Pinetown, Durban Kwa Zulu Natal.

This website has been built to share my thoughts and ideas when it comes to Website Design, Website Marketing and Website Statistics. I want to help you see your website from a different point of view. I know that everyone is different and I know that everyone has a different opinion, but these are the things that I have learned, or thought about over the past few years.

I have been building websites for the past 8 years now. In this 8 years I have learned so much, and still I feel that I don't know enough. Everyday I learn something new. As a website designer, I think that you will never know enough. When I look back at the websites that I built a few years ago, and the websites I have built today, it's amazing to see how far I have come. But to be honest, every website has it's challenges, and even the simplest websites can be problematic.

Over the past few years there have been things like Facebook and Twitter that have taken the world by storm. We have seen the introduction of Tablets and Smartphones. The world of websites changed completely. Gone are the days that websites were only viewed on desktop computers. Now days people expect their website to work perfectly on all devices. They cant understand that each device has a different screen size. And for each screen-size, you need to adjust the website for an optimal viewing experience.

So what would the perfect website look like? To be honest this is a personal opinion, and each and every website can be improved upon. On the Internet you will come across websites that look amazing, but rank very badly. Or the website looks like it was built in the 80's, but it ranks so well that it gets thousands, or millions of visitors everyday.

So as a website designer you start to wonder if you should focus more on the design and layout of the website, or should you spend more time focusing on the way the website ranks on the internet. So over the past 8 years, I have built millions of websites. I have thought about every part of a website. I have built so many websites that I cant even count how many I actually built. This could be anything from 1 line of code, too 1 page websites, content management websites, blogs, online shops and etc.

The funny thing is that only about bout 10% of these websites might make it online, and the rest will probably never bee seen. Out of the 10% that did make it online, no one will ever know how much time went into coding the website, setting up the website, or optimizing it for the client. At the end of the day, I learned a lot building these websites, and every time I build a new website, I have the experience to make it better than the last.

Yes, you can learn something new everyday. By the time I have built a website, it's already outdated. If you are not updating your website on a daily basis, it's just going to land up never being seen. The whole reason people want a website, is that they want clients to find their website online. So if you are not investing the time and effort into your website, there is a very slight chance that it will do well online.
